The first few images of Android 2.1 have made their way online and we’re more than pleased to share them. These pictures allegedly come from an HTC Hero running the newest build of Android. We’re excited to see this on “old” hardware like the Hero as most of today’s handsets similarly spec’d. It’s reassuring to know that Android hasn’t evolved (yet) to require new phones and that updates might be a download away.
As you may already know, the Hero is currently running Android 1.5. HTC plans to skip 1.6 and move directly to 2.0, but these screens indicate they might be looking even further. It goes without saying, that this is obviously not stock Android, but Sense UI.
Here are 5 pictures we wanted to show, but the full Be Geek (translated) gallery has a few more.
