Those of you who are Sprint Android owners will be happy to learn that your handset will be getting an upgrade to Android 2.0 in the first half of 2010. According to the official Sprint twitter account, this is confirmed although a hard date has yet to be determined.
Happy to announce Android 2.0 is coming to Sprint’s Hero & Moment. Date TBD, but roughly 1H 2010. – Sprint via twitter
Yes, the ‘first half’ is a big window, but it’s better than nothing. Our only worry is that Android 2.1 or 2.5 isn’t rolling out on new handsets by then. If that’s the case , it would be the same thing all over again. Currently, both handsets run Android 1.5 but the Hero also has HTC’s Sense UI on top.
UPDATE: HTC confirms this also, via their official twitter account. The good news is that they narrow it down to “early next year”.
Did you know your Sprint Hero will be getting Eclair early next year? Well…now you do! Happy Friday ladies and gents. – HTC via twitter
