LG Optimus Note Official as dual-core Tegra 2-packing slider [Video]

While this isn’t the first time LG has come correct with a dual-core smartphone, it’s certainly the first time they’ve done so with a slide-out keyboard. With their lineup including such gems as the LG G2x, the LG G-Slate, and the Optimus 3D (aka the Thrill 4G), you’d think LG was the king of dual core. Here they prove their willingness to go strange with what may well be the device that makes their NVIDIA Tegra 2 to Qualcomm dual-core processor ratio go from 2-to-1 to 3-to-1 in an instant. Are you looking to bypass the other dual-core QWERTY slider on the block, the Droid 3? Here you go – LG Optimus Note!

This device features what ends up being an enticingly upgraded version of the Tegra 2 processor we know and love, this time clocked at 1.2GHz instead of the normal 1.0GHz. We’ve got to think about this for a second and wonder if NVIDIA will be upgrading their Tegra 2 SoC any more before the quad-core Project Kal-El chip comes out, thinking aloud “gosh, how many more phones will get one of the most spoken-about processors in the past year before NVIDIA stops production on the long-lasting line and hits the ground running with the quad?

Beyond that simple bit of excellence, this device is set to have a cool set of specs that’d be right at home in your everyday dual-core seeking US citizens pocket – but note, as this device has thus far only shown up in the product lists of one carrier, that carrier being LG U+ in South Korea, there IS a chance that this device might never make it here to the states. Then again, the Optimus 3D and the Optimus 2X were already popular internationally before they hit the USA shores earlier this year, so who knows, really?

This device has a Nova LCD Display (700nit) with 800 x 480 pixel WVGA resolution, HDMI support through what’s likely a microHDMI port, Bluetooth 3.0, full QWERTY keyboard, VGA camera on the front, a surprisingly small 5-megapixel camera on the back, 8GB ROM, 1G DDR2 RAM, and Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread at launch. We’re hoping that South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission didn’t put a stopper on production of these cool units via Google, while we’ve also got to wonder if releasing this slightly lesser-great device amongst the DROID BIONIC and the Galaxy S II here in the states wouldn’t be unwise at the moment – perhaps an upgrade before coming on over the pond guns blazing?

The candid photos you see above come from South Korean blog Cetizen, while the slightly more pro-looking pics come from the LG U+ ad spot you’re about to see in the video in this post. Watch for the LG Optimus Note’s unmistakable (yet keyboard pushed-in) visage near the end of the spot. Tok tok tok indeed!

LG Optimus Note Makes An Appearance – Dual-core Tegra 2 Slider

This image has no alt text

Not to be confused with the Samsung Galaxy Note that was introduced at IFA last week, the LG Optimus Note made a surprise visit to Mr. Blurrycam today showing off its alluring physical QWERTY keyboard and 4-inch NOVA LCD display. Also accompanying the fuzzy pic is a leaked press shot for the device to make everything that much more official.

Apparently, this device will feature a 1.2GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 5MP rear facing/1.3MP front facing cameras with LED flash and 8GB of internal storage. Let’s hope this is the very same LG Optimus Slider that we’ve been hearing about supposedly making its way to Sprint. What do you guys think?

Potential Fix Found For Motorola Photon 4G “Sleep of Death” Issue [Forum Talk]

This image has no alt text

Quite a few Motorola Photon owners have been experiencing an issue with their device in what they are calling “The Sleep of Death.” Apparently, the device will shut down at random times without warning forcing users to power back on and check for important missed calls and/or texts. MoPho users took to our very own Android Forums to address the issue though it seems nobody could figure out exactly what was going on and if this was a software issue or a hardware one. This ultimately lead many users back to their Sprint stores for hardware replacements.

As it turns out, AF member 408SandShark seems to have found a possible fix. Apparently, the battery isn’t secure inside the phone and when the device is moved, this causes the battery to lose a connection with the terminals on the device, making the device shut off. The fix? Well, placing some kind of cushioned tape or folded piece of paper in between the battery cover and battery seems to hold everything in place. 408SandShark claims this has remedied “The Sleep of Death” issue for him. Give it a try and let us know if it works for you. Good luck!

Kairosoft, the creators behind such hit titles as Game Dev Story, Grand Prix Story and Hot Springs Story are at it again! This time with — you guessed it another “Story” game. This one is called Pocket League Story and the game follows the same premise as the rest of Kairosoft’s simulation titles. In an attempt for ultimate soccer stardom, you have full control of a soccer team managing everything from handpicking the players, selling merchandise, erecting a stadium for your team and gaining the world’s hottest sponsors.

I’m getting stressed out already. If you’re familiar with Kairosoft’s other Story titles and simulation gaming is your kinda thing, you may want to pick this one up. It’s available fresh from the Android Market for $5.18.

Nvidia CEO Confirms Quad-core Android Tablets Coming By The End Of The Year

This image has no alt text

In an interview with Forbes, NVIDIA’s CEO and president Jen-Hsun Huang, confirmed rumors that Nvidia’s much hyped quad-core “Kal-El” Tegra 3 processor would indeed be running in tablets before the end of the year. Just like in the dual-core race, this will once again allow Nvidia to claim “firsties,” making them first on the market with a quad-core chipset. This should keep them ahead of rivals like Qualcomm who isn’t expected to deliver a similar quad-core processor until late this year or early next.

If you were one of those not swayed by current generation dual-core smartphones and waiting patiently for a quad-core this year, you may want to reconsider. Originally, Nvidia predicted they would have a quad-core phone in 2011 but Huang indicated there were only quad-core tablets in the works for this year. Sorry, guys. Who’s ready for a quad-core, Ice Cream Sandwich tablet!?

T-Mobile Galaxy S II Shows Up On Official Samsung Site

This image has no alt text

Samsung has finally added the T-Mobile Galaxy S II (SGH-T989) to their smartphone listings on their official site today. If you were hoping to get some more “official” insight on the device — like the official name, which processor it will be using or if it will be compatible with HSPA+ 42Mbs — once again, those finer details were left out. What you do get to see some shiny new pics of the device from the front and side but unfortunately, still no back shots (my personal favorite). Check ‘em out!
